Ending things is never easy! The news of Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai going off-air has left its lead actors in shock, especially the show's female lead. Ashi Singh, who portrays the character of Naina on the show got very emotional and broke down
Sony TV's much loved show 'Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai' is going off air next month and this news has left its lead actors in shock. As per a report in Bombay Times, the lead actress Ashi Singh, who portrays Naina, got emotional and mentioned, “When I was offered Naina’s role, I was told that she is a simple, non-glamorous girl, and at that time, I was a bit reluctant because every other girl on TV is stylish and glamorous.” She added that she feared getting typecast in similar roles.
Ashi reveals that she worked doubly hard on her character to establish Naina as this simple girl. So, when the producer broke the news, she almost broke down and it took her a while to get back to shooting. “I feel that the show could have gone on for another year. However, now that it’s ending, it has given me more confidence to move on to other things,” added the show’s female lead.
Where as Randeep Rai, who plays Sameer on the show said that he couldn’t believe that the show was going off-air. “I have lived the character and I am not exaggerating when I say that my identity has only been Sameer for the last two years. I will need some time to cope with this,” he concluded.
Show's producer Sumit Mittal who decided to pull the plug on the show reveals how they reached on a consensus to wrap things up. “I feel that Yeh Un… has run its course; we didn’t want to bring it to a level where the viewers feel that it’s dragging. Also, it was based on our (he and his wife Shashi Mittal) life story and struggles, and after a certain point, the audience don’t enjoy watching the struggles for too long.”
But before you all get upset with the fact that you will not get to see Sameer and Naina's love chemistry anymore then its not the case as channel is already planning for Season 2. Confirming the news, programming head of Sony TV said, “The show is now in its final leg; it has been a great run and the good news is, we are now planning a sequel.”
